Relaxation

10 acres of vineyard, trees, rolling lawns, shrubs, gardens, a huge meandering pond (Willow Lake), with two islands, supporting sport fish and other wild life.

An over one-thousand square foot shaded limestone patio with 2 large raised decks, facing sunrise and sunset, offers lots of opportunity for lounging and quiet reflection. Travel back in time to a less hectic pace of life, a place where you can look at the stars, where the frets of life can be laid aside and you can indulge in the luxury of just being alive.

The Chalet

Set well off the road and hidden in trees, the Chalet was originally designed after the manner of a swiss chalet in the alps. Bird Song Chalet has seen many modernizations and additions over the years. The latest, our renovated guest rooms (Morning Glory and Wisteria) with ensuites. The guest rooms are walk-in at ground level with their own entrance from the patio. The hosts live on the upper floor.

Rooms are located across a central hall from each other, perfect for couples travelling together. For your comfort we have installed queen size beds with orthopedic pillow top mattresses and duvets filled with silk fibers, which are light weight, warm and allow your body to breathe. The rooms have central air as well as auxiliary electric heating for cooler weather. Each room has its own spacious ensuite with luxurious soft water.

The Florida room is a great place to enjoy an early cup of coffee or tea prior to breakfast. The large dining room has an impressive floor to ceiling fireplace of natural stone and a spacious table for your dining comfort.

The great room exudes old world charm with its beams and massive natural stone wall setting off a cozy fireplace stove. A perfect place to unwind. We endeavour to make your stay at Bird Song Chalet a visit to remember.

Location

Situated in the heart of the Regional town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, we are surrounded by vineyards, orchards and wineries, just 5 minutes away from the Old Town's centre. We are likewise just 15 minutes from the powerful Falls of Niagara travelling on the picturesque Niagara River Parkway which follows the majestic Niagara River. Close to St. Catharines and the Welland Camal.

Hospitality

Hospitality in the grand European tradition, boasting its efforts on our guest's comfort. Regina, the hostess, speaks German as a second language.

Breakfast

Breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m. in the dining room, or patios when nice weather permits, while coffee and tea is available earlier. Guest are treated to a scrumptious breakfast of fruit, juice, rolls and homemade breads, toast, Canadian back bacon, loaves, an egg dish or crepes with cream and fruit. Breakfast is included in your overnight stay.

How To Get Here

When crossing to Canada over the Lewiston bridge, continue about 2 km along Highway 405 to exit 102, the Stanley Avenue exit. On coming to the stop sign, instead of turning right to Stanley Avenue, turn left onto Town Line Road. Go down the hill to the stop sign, turn right on to Four Mile Creek Road, and keep going straight at the four-way stop at the town of St. David's. Line 6 Road crosses Four Mile Creek Road about four km from St. David's. Turn right on Line 6 Road. Bird Song Chalet is 1 km on your left (982 Line 6 Road).

If coming from the QEW (Toronto and areas eastward), cross over Garden City Skyway and take the Highway 55 (38B) exit. Turn right at the stop light on York Road, travel east to the four-way stop in St. Davids. Turn left onto Creek Road, travel North to Line 6, turn right and travel 1 km to Bird Song Chalet on your left.

Birds

Home to a great variety of birds, drawn by the trees and shrubs, the pond and a variety of feeders there is a lot of bird activity and bird song, hence our name.

Pets

We are a country B&B in farm and vineyard territory. What would a place like this be without a few furry or feathered creatures? There are Tipsy and Puspus, two outside only cats who have their own two room chalet under the cork screw willow next to the stone wall. Willard, the inside cat, lives in the host's quarters only. Stuffy the Shih Tzu thinks he is a watch dog but can be bought off with a couple of strokes. We have a few fenced hens and Feisty, the rooster. We understand that sometimes people would wish to bring their pets along. We have room to walk your dog and are willing to accommodate some pets. Please speak to Regina regarding our pet policy.

Smoking Policy

The interior of the chalet is smoke-free. Those wishing to smoke, may do so on the spacious patio, decks and chalet grounds.

More than just a Bed & Breakfast, we have the facilities for you to be able to enjoy a quiet retreat here at any time of the year. Enjoy the sun room, the great room with a solid stone wall and gas fireplace and the ambiance of the dining room.
